Here are 3 quick ways to make your small breakfast nook or kitchen table feel elevated :
1: Add a chandelier, lighting is the key ingredient to setting the mood for a space, especially where you dine. Nothing says Dennys like flush mounts and white lights. With that being said, make sure your bulbs are warm light! This enhances the overall vibe and sets a more romantic tone.
2 : Curtains (as long as it's practical, some might argue with 2 toddlers it's not - and while I don't disagree, I do think curtains added a huge amount of impact). Adding curtains to our sliding doors provided a softness and warmth to the space as well as making the cielings feel taller. 8 ft. Cielings, who?
3 : Wall molding! I will die on that hill. There is nothing that a good wall treatment can't fix. In our space we added a 2/3rd height board and batten with a picture ledge above. I have intentions of one day adding a rail and replacing the hanging art with layered frames, but until then, the ledge acts as a great resting place for candles and plants.
